Last minute details....

In case anyone has forgotten, tomorrow is our opening day for our little production of “Comedy of Errors.”

Call time is 5 o’clock S-H-A-R-P! Everyone will need to be IN COSTUME AND MAKEUP. If you need to change clothes then come early. We need to be ready to run through act 5 at 5 sharp! Anyone not there by 5 will have to feel the wrath of ME! You know it ain’t pretty!! GGgrrrrr!! During the production, nobody will be allowed backstage besides those in the production and those who are assisting backstage.

For makeup- we are mostly concerned with the eyes being done. Simple eyeliner on both top and bottom eyelids and extened out slightly. Mascara on top and bottom also. If you would like other piratey makeup that is fine also. (No fake blood..sorry guys) Girls you can look as fancy or as simple as you think your character merits. Girls, remember to not have your hair hanging down by your face, to pull it back with bobby pins in you need to. We don’t want your hair upstaging your cute face! If you are wearing a scarf in your hair, please bobby pin it also so that it will stay put. (Try to put two bobby pins in an X shape..then they won’t move.)

Please bring a tote for all of your items. This will help keep your things from being lost or mixed up with others. Don't mess with other peoples tote/stuff! Refer to the mention of my wrath above.

Please bring your ticket sale information. Bring your extra tickets that did not sell and the money from those that you did sell. Place them in an envelope and on the front of the envelope write down how many you sold to individuals and to families. The money will need to be turned in right when you come at 5. Give it to Tina right as you enter the building. When she receives your envelope of tickets and money, she will write your family name on a ticket for them that may be used for your family’s attendance to the play this week. That ticket will be at the concession stand for when they come that evening. Be sure to ask your fellow commonwealth friends that aren’t in the class if they would like to purchase a ticket!! Presold tickets will get to go toward the prize of selling the most tickets.

No snacks during performances. We are working on arrangements for a light dinner on Friday between performances and information will come as soon as we have it.

ONLY WATER during performances!! Please bring a water bottle so that you will not need to use the drinking fountain during the performance.

Please shower, wear deodorant, and wear clean socks each day of the performance. Shoes are to remain ON during the performance (even when you are backstage).

If your family takes pictures during the performance, please ask them to not use their flash.—it can be very distracting. I am also looking for pictures from the year, if you have any that you would be willing to share please send them this way! You can even bring them on a flash drive to the performance and we can download them right to my laptop.

Cast party Saturday from 5-8 at the Simpson’s home. More info to come.

Finally, you need to get some good sleep tonight, refresh you lines tomorrow and realax! Its going to be great!

Woo!!! I hope you are as excited as I am!!! Here we go!!

THIS WEEK!

This next Thursday we will "drop scripts" for both of Act 1 and Act 2. That means that the scripts will no longer be allowed on stage when ever we run Act 1 or Act 2. SO keep learning and practicing your lines!! Become very familiar with your cues--that means the lines that come just before your speaking part. (This includes Act 2 Scene 2 which we are blocking on Monday We will be letting you go through Act 1 and Act 2 with minimum interruptions so that we can get the flow moving nice and smooth. I know it can be a lot of lines for some of you, but I KNOW you can do it!! Everyone has been doing such a GREAT job! I hope everyone has been having as much fun as I have been having.

How are your costumes coming?

Girls: check your closets (and your sister's closets...with permission of course..lol..) or even ask your girl friends if they have a nice full swishy skirt and blouse. Do you need more pictures to help you with your costumes?
Here are a few more ideas to help you out.

If you have a more specialty costume, we are more than happy to help you out. Let us know what you need help with. Or is there are certain pieces that you are having trouble finding, let us know so that we can ask around. Feel free to comment on the blog what you are having trouble with.

For shoes... if you are still looking for shoes I have a suggestion. At walmart they sell shoe liners in the nylon section. They slip on like a slipper and look like a shoe from a distance. They come in all colors and patterns, but if you were to get a black pair they would work for your costume. They are about $3 a pair. When selecting your shoes, remember no heels and you want shoes that you don't feel restriced in. You want to be able to walk freely without worrying about stumbling in your shoes. As soon as you have found your shoes for the play, start wearing them at practice. You will need to practice walking in them on the stage--we don't want to hear your footsteps on the stage..very distracting.

Guys: How is it coming?? Dromios and Antipholuses we are having your pants, vest and sash made so that we can have you look as exact as possible. You, however will need to get your shirt and shoes. Remember, all guys need black shoes AND socks. Only have a shirt with a pocket if you have a vest to cover up the pocket. If you want a scarf for your head, that is fine!--Much less hairspray involved that way..lol.. Think pirate!! AAArrhhh!!

We are looking for a few props to help with the play and costumes. Please ask your parents if you able to help us out with any of these things. We will be posting other items in the near future.
A steamer trunk--similar to a large treasure chest.
A petticoat--a poofy skirt liner ...REALLY poofy.
Black graduation gown

Also if you have extra costume pieces that you would be willing to share with the others, please let us know!!

I was suppose to take pictures of class last thursday to post, but alas, I was only took one..lol..I was a little distracted. So here are some random pictures from the past.

And finally, here is a picture of me when I was 17(?) and in the play Hello Dolly. (sadly the only picture I have) I caused my director some extreme stress two weeks before opening night. On Thursday, remind me to tell you what happen.

A once in a semester deal....

We, your Shakespeare mentors, are offering a one-time, exclusive incentive for reading "The Comedy of Errors", Act 5 early. When you finish Act 5, post a comment and you will be privileged to receive a special surprise on Thursday. Or you may call or e-mail Bonita or Nikki and receive the same, spectacular surprise. Of course, you will need to do this before Thursday's class begins. Once class begins, this offer is no longer valid.
